Enrolment Visits
Prior to your child starting at Jump Start Educare we ask you to come along with your child/ren for three pre visits. These visits help you and your child settle into the routines and happenings around the centre as well as starting to build positive respectful relationships with you, your whanau and the centre.
First Visit:
This visit is for you and your child/ren to be introduced to the centre. You will be introduced to the teachers and shown around the centre, where your child/ren's bags are kept, the bathroom, the kai (food) area, the accident book, portfolios and our inside and outside areas (weather permitting). This visit allows your child/ren to engage in our learning environment with you by their side.
Second Visit:
This visit allows you to come into the centre already having been introduced to the teachers. You will have some knowledge of the routines within the centre. You may have questions from your first visit or perhaps you would like to go through an area of the centre again. In this visit please share with the teachers how your child/ren best handles various situations, such as sleep time, meals, bottles, nappy/toilet training, upsets, cuddly toys, allergies and things of interest etc. This time allows the teachers to get to know your child in depth which improves settling.
Third Visit:
This visit is when you can come into the centre and spend some time settling your child/ren into our learning environment, before saying goodbye and leaving the room. You are expected to remain at the centre during this visit. Our whanau (family) room is available any time where you can sit down, have a coffee and watch how your child settles when you leave. This will give you the opportunity to see how quickly your child will settle in to the learning environment and become engaged in their play.
Should you require further visits before your child/ren starts at the centre you are most welcome, please discuss this with your teachers.
Please inform the centre if one or any of your visits will include a meal time, this ensures we have food available for your child/ren
Morning tea: 9.30am-10.00am
Lunch time: 11.45am-12.00pm
Afternoon tea: 2.00pm-3.00pm
